For sale, a Vinzenz Püchner bassoon in outstanding condition with a Heckel crook.

It is a delightfully sweet, free blowing bassoon that plays with the warmth and colour of a fine pre-war bassoon. It is similar to an old Heckel in sound and flexibility, being a good example of a thin-walled bassoon.

The thin-walled design makes this bassoon light weight to hold and easy to blow - ideal for those looking for something that is not as  resistant as a modern bassoon, and less strain on the left arm from the weight of the instrument.

As is common with bassoons of this era, it is made from a piece of high quality and attractive figured maple wood, with elegant French polish finish. 

Vinzenz Püchner was the father of the well-known Josef Püchner (founder of the modern day J. Püchner bassoon manufacturing company). Vinzenz Püchner bassoons were built to a very high standard by master craftsmen out of high quality wood.

This is a first class bassoon of its era, suitable for playing at an advanced level, with a good level of keywork including high D key and left thumb whisper key lock.

This bassoon features:

• A particularly nice, warm, sound which sings in all registers
• Good intonation
• Varnish in lovely original condition
• A fine piece of wood with the grain showing through the varnish. This is typical of Vinzenz Püchner bassoons
• A good level of key work including a high D key, E-F sharp trill key, C sharp trill, extra B flat, extra G sharp, extra F sharp, left thumb whisper key lock
• Nickel plating in good condition
• Joint lock
• Modern Heckel CD1 crook (well matched to this bassoon and in good condition) and two older (probably original) crooks in 1 and 3 length)
• Brand new Tom and Will gig bag (as well as original hard case if required - in poor condition)

This bassoon has been completely overhauled including all new pads, corks and felts, professional keywork set up with new greased pivots, bore oiled multiple times, and much more. It is offered for sale in outstanding condition.
