One of two 9000-series Heckel bassoons currently available, offering a rare opportunity to compare two exceptional instruments side by side. Although closely related in age and character, each has its own tonal colour and playing qualities.
An exceptional earlier 9000-series Heckel, retaining what appears to be its original finish and a beautiful patina characteristic of a finely preserved older instrument.
It has a rich, golden tone, excellent projection and the flexibility associated with this celebrated period of Heckel production. The instrument responds freely throughout the range, with secure, well-balanced intonation.
Fully overhauled in our specialist workshop, it is a reliable professional instrument ready for concert use. Its specification includes automatic high D key (works superbly for The Rite of Spring opening - whisper quiet entry is possible), a high A bridge, attractive original-style varnish.
The bassoon is in excellent condition. Its comprehensive overhaul included new pads, corks and felts, bore oiling, complete mechanical regulation and careful optimisation of pad heights.

Owing to the value of this instrument we are not able to send it out by courier, so it will need to be tried at our premises prior to taking it for a trial if required. A prospective borrower will also need to insure it prior to leaving our premises.
