Have you ever dreamed of owning a Heckel? We are proud to have for sale this 6000 series Heckel bassoon in outstanding playing condition. It has charming original finish, a beautiful singing sound, easy high notes, good scale and projection.

Heckel 6000 series bassoons are highly regarded for their free sound, great projection and beautiful, resonant tonal qualities.

The current owner has taken care to maintain the bassoon regularly and to a high standard, so the bassoon is in excellent condition throughout. We have also fully serviced the bassoon prior to sale, making this a comfortable and reliable bassoon to play on.

This bassoon has the less common but well documented 'flat top' long joint design. It could be custom specified at the Heckel factory in 1926 when the bassoon was made, as that was a common design in those days e.g. on Kohlerts and earlier Heckels. It feels the same as the standard round long joint design to play.

Heckel 6000 series bassoons are rare and sought-after instruments owing to the golden sound they produce. Instruments like this do not come up for sale often.

Key features:

    • Sweet, dark and round Heckel sound, with impressive dynamic range and far-reaching projection
    • Free blowing response and easy high notes
    • Good intonation
    • Attractive golden amber Heckel varnish and colour with Heckel stamps
    • Silver plating showing some wear in places but it doesn't detract from the elegance of this bassoon
    • Basic but good keywork that plays everything and could be upgraded if desired. Keys include sliding left thumb whisper key lock, C# and E-F# trills, alternate F#-G#-Bb keys, little finger rollers for the right hand
    • Finger-hole liners (water tubes) extending into the bore to aid against bubbling
    • Well matched gold brass Heckel crook/bocal CD2XL. Other options available to try
    • Balance hanger
    • Stunning (possibly original) Heckel oval Gewa case with green velvet interior and original Heckel label. Very elegant
