For sale, a long bore Fox Model II bassoon in great condition. Fox Model IIs have long been one of Fox's top professional models. They are long bore, thinner walled, more like an older Heckel bassoon, which gives a resonant tone and stable intonation. This is one of the older Fox Model II instruments (1975).
Here is what Fox have to say about this model:
the long bore design can be identified by a very warm "round" tone, evenly balanced, with excellent intonation throughout the entire range. It is the most secure design and its tone quality fits well into both chamber music and orchestral bassoon parts. Like all Fox bassoons, it features freedom of response, intonation, tonal quality, and projection that will satisfy the requirements of the most discriminating performers.
In particular this bassoon features:
- Lovely warm, round sound
- Excellent intonation and tonal stability
- Nickel plated keywork with some wear but looks fine overall
- Varnish in good condition
- Good level of keywork including high D, right hand whisper key lock, alternate G#-F#Bb keys, C# and E-F# trills, four rollers
- Finger hole liners extending into the bore
- Well-matched Fox crook/bocal
- Hard case in good working order
This bassoon has undergone a full overhaul by us, including full repad, professional set up, bore oil and much more, and is sold in outstanding playing condition.
