This bassoon is now sold

For sale, a second hand Adler 1359 bassoon. This is a rare opportunity to buy Adler's professional model bassoon, a precursor to the just-as-rare Adler 1361.

The Adler 1359 is a noticeable step up from the well-known Adler 1357 and 1358 models. The professional model Adler bassoons tend to be made of better quality, striped maple (this one is made from beautifully naturally striped wood), and have keywork up to high E. It is a very capable instrument with even intonation and a warm, free blowing sound.

This Adler 1359 has upgraded keywork over and above the standard Adler 1357 model including lots of rollers (9 in total), extra trill keys. The rollers for the right hand thumb include rollers from low E to F# and low E to Bb, which are useful rollers in fast passages. The high E key extends the range and makes high E more reliably achievable.

This bassoon features:

      • A resonant, warm and round sound with good stability. High notes sound easily and it has nice rich low and middle registers
      • Accurate intonation and tuning
      • Varnish in good condition with the usual minor small surface dings here and there as expect for a used bassoon
      • Silver-plated keywork in excellent condition
      • This 27 key model is significantly upgraded from a standard Adler bassoon, and has a high D key, high E key, nine rollers, right hand thumb whisper key lock, four trill keys (E-F#, C#, Eb, Ab/Bb), extra B flat key, extra G sharp key, extra F sharp key
      • Brass tenon rings not found on most low model Adler bassoons, for extra durability
      • Tom and Will gig bag
      • Adler crooks number 2 and number 3.

This bassoon has been serviced in our workshop and is offered for sale in outstanding condition.

Commission sale on behalf of a private owner.
