Buy Back Scheme - Better Than Renting for Bassoons, Mini Bassoons and Oboes?

bassoon buy back scheme, rental

The choice between renting and buying a bassoon or oboe can appear a difficult one. Rental may seem an attractive option if you are not sure you (or your son or daughter) will commit to the bassoon or oboe in the long term.

Alternatively, in the case of a younger child, renting a mini bassoon or junior oboe can appear attractive as he or she will move on to a full size instrument after a few years.

Our Buy Back Scheme aims to make that choice easier. Under this scheme (available for instruments for sale showing our Buy Back logo), we promise to buy back instruments at a pre-agreed price; and if you are trading in an instrument bought from us under the Buy Back Scheme for another instrument, we promise to pay even more:

This means you can buy from us safe in the knowledge that, in the first two years of ownership, you can hand back an instrument when you choose and not have to worry about how much it is costing you per month or how long it is economic to hold on to it for.

Depending on the instrument and how long you keep it, it could work out significantly cheaper than renting, as the following example shows:

Example:
Buy a new mini bassoon from us and sell it back after two years costs £580 (equivalent to £24.17 per month). And if you trade it in for a full size bassoon it costs £507.50 over two years (equivalent to £21.15 per month).

Buy Back Scheme Conditions:

  • It applies to those bassoons, mini bassoons and oboes for sale where the Buy Back logo is displayed.
  • The instrument and accessories must be returned in the same state in which they were sold, allowing for normal wear and tear. Over and above this, the cost of repairing the instrument and accessories to bring them back to the standard they were in when sold shall be deducted from the refunded amount.
  • For the above refund schedule, each month is a calendar month from the date the bassoonl, mini bassoon or oboe is received and the percentage shown is a percentage of the price you paid.
  • It applies to personal buyers only
  • It applies to customers in the European Union only
  • If an instrument is bought under the AIP scheme, the refunded amount is calculated on the price you paid exclusive of VAT
  • We can offer the trade-in percentages shown for trade in only against instruments we own and not against instruments sold on commission on behalf of another owner
