Moosmann 222e

Moosmann 222e bassoon for sale second hand in excellent condition. This bassoon was made in 2015 and has been serviced in our workshops to like-new playing condition. This bassoon is currently being serviced and will be available shortly. An extra picture will follow once the service is finished.

The Moosmann 222e bassoon is one the best bassoons Moosmann has ever made. Crucially, it is a thin walled instrument compared to other Moosmann models, which makes it less heavy in sound and physical weight, but also sweeter and more responsive to play, and more flexible in tone.

The bassoon has an impressive dynamic range and is highly in tune and with stable intonation in all dynamics. It is also cleverly engineered, with quality features like nylon bearings in the key pivots for quiet key action, narrower right hand thumb keys so there is less distance to travel than on lower models, some metal tone hole faces in the butt joint, and so on. There is an impressive array of keys too, including 13 rollers and a high F key.

The 222 'e' designates a number of upgrades over the standard 222 model, including right hand thumb keys are narrower for faster playing, solid silver finger hole liners instead of plastic, extra right hand thumb Ab/Bb trill key, so a noticeably better equipped bassoon over the standard 222.

In particular this bassoon features:

• Beautiful resonant and warm sound, wide dynamic range, superb intonation, and basically everything you ever need tonally for professional playing at a high level
• Long-seasoned curly mountain maple with natural stripes. It is a very beautiful piece of wood
• Hand-applied French polish finish
• Silver-plated keywork in very good condition
• A high level of keywork (29 in total) including high D, high E and high F keys (with double high F touch piece i.e. can be fingered with first or second finger left hand), 4 trill keys including the right hand thumb Ab/Bb trill key, alternate Ab/Bb/F# keys, 13 rollers including right hand thumb full set with compact style keys (preferable in our view), high A bridge, left thumb whisper key lock, extra low C key
• Solid sterling silver finger-hole liners/water tubes extending into the bore
