For sale, a second hand oboe da caccia after J.H. Eichentopf. This instrument was made by renowned USA oboe maker Sand Dalton and plays at A=415Hz.

It is in pristine condition and comes with a staple, soft cloth pouches for the two joints and a bespoke wooden case to protect it.

Eichentopf was a contemporary of J.S. Bach in Leipzig, and Bach was the most prolific and important composer for the instrument.

The oboe da caccia, a variant of the taille de hautbois, is in the key of F. It is curved, covered with leather and has a large, flared brass bell. The curving bore produces a unique pastoral sound, essential for the many important obbligatos that Bach wrote for this particular instrument.

It has two keys, with the 3rd and 4th holes doubled.

Sold on commission on behalf of a private vendor.
